Nothing much. I've been reading about cognitive empathy in Theory of Mind research and social neuroscience studies on perspective-taking. They suggest that one aspect of advanced emotional intelligence is finding it difficult to hate someone wholeheartedly because you understand the reasons behind their behaviour. You see why they did what they did, even if you don't agree with it. It seems to be a rare trait.
