Gennaris Bionic Vision System

Researchers at Monash University in Australia have developed the world's first bionic eye, the Gennaris Bionic Vision System, offering new hope to millions affected by blindness. This groundbreaking technology bypasses damaged optic nerves, transmitting visual signals directly to the brain's vision center. The Gennaris system, developed over nearly a decade, features a miniature camera worn by the user and up to 11 wireless implants, each about the size of a thumbnail, placed on the brain's surface. These implants deliver tiny electrical pulses to stimulate brain cells, enabling users to perceive basic shapes and outlines. With a 100-degree field of view, the system provides a more natural vision experience compared to earlier technologies.
